Could this be a sign?
To say that I’ve been preoccupied with everything going on in America lately is an understatement. With a six hour time difference between here and there I’ve been spending most of my nights on the sofa watching CNN, and following my friends (from over there) on Facebook. I watched as Sandy struck my home-state of New Jersey and then walloped the area in which I come from. Due toΒ power outages and poor cell service, I’ve had very little contact with my family this week. The news reports and pictures I’ve seen are heartbreaking.
And then I found a piece of burned up paper on my doormat this morning.
I picked it up, turned it over and saw a picture of a globe. The paper was burned all around the edges, almost in a perfect circle like the globe. As I stood there looking at this picture that had somehow blown to my doorstep in the night, I just knew, America will be alright.
My mother called a few hours later, they finally got their electricity back!
But everyone’s fine and that’s all that matters.

To be so far away from family when you “need” to be with them most….that’s so hard. Thrilled to know they are okay and have power again! Conitnued prayers….I know they have a long road ahead β₯ “Signs” from out of nowhere are the best!
They are aren’t they… Thanks Paula
π
Your guardian angel was letting you know that they were with you today
What a wonderful thought… Thanks Dallas
Well that is weird, your found paper : ) Seems like it illustrates where your thoughts have been flying. I know, it is so difficult to be away from the ones we love, especially when there are disasters, calamities, or sickness. Thank Goodness that all your family, and mine, are fine, and my immediate area averted the worst of it. Those I know who were most drastically hit by Sandy are all safe though with all sorts of inconveniences and messes to deal with. Wishing you peace of mind, Maggie. ~ Lily
It is difficult, the last time I felt like this was 9/11. I think what I need now is to pop over and read some of your lovely poetry, Lily π
Wow! I’m glad everyone is okay. You’re right–that’s all that really matters.
Thanks, Naomi
Oh gosh . . . it that ever a good sign.
Glad to hear your family are friends are ok. Mother Nature is amazing and cruel. The photos are unbelievable. The cars piled up like toothpicks at the subway entrance was like something out of a horror movie.
Will you be able to visit “home” soon?
I have a trip to Houston booked in April, not sure when I’ll get back to Jersey… but I’m sure I’ll think of something (I always do)
That piece of paper was definitely a sign – it’s amazing how it landed on your doorstep!
Between Sandy and the election, the US has had a huge month. I’m so glad your family is safe. I can’t believe the pictures – your brother and your parents homes look like a disaster zones! π¦
I know… right?
I couldn’t believe it when I turned that paper over and saw the US…it just had to be a good sign.
ps
Everyone is so divided on the election, that I didn’t even mention it π¦
pss
I haven’t forgotten your book review, I’ve just been a little preoccupied..
Totally understandable! π
I finally wrote and posted a review of your book on Goodreads and Amazon (sorry it took so long) It was a good book Diane, I really enjoyed it. The others are on my list…
So glad your family is ok Maggie. The storm was very destructive and caused a lot of havoc. Unfortunately, I already heard yesterday of another storm that very well may hit the eastern states again
I know, they got SNOW! Good thing the power is back (for most of them that is) π¦
HUGS Mags to your family.
chills!!!
This is good news. When all else fails… electricity & telecommunications infrastucture… there’s still a way for us to receive messages and reassurance π
Yes, through signs… I really do believe in them.
Wonderful!!! There are angels…
There really is… Yay!
that gave me goosebumps! I totally believe in signs. I’m so glad to hear your family is all ok.
How did it go in your area, Beth?
overall not too bad – I feel very fortunate that we only have a mess of sticks and branches to clean up and had power back in less than 3 days.
Here’s the post I wrote about the storm – well, it’s sort of about the storm π

I’m running behind, Maggie, but was glad to read your family is safe, and everyone is ok. What a terrible picture of your brother’s kitchen. π¦ I’m glad you had the feeling when you found the picture. I feel the same way, too. America is going to be all right.
Me too…running behind as always. I’m glad we have the same feeling, America will be alright π
I’m so pleased that everyone is okay, but this is just so sad. You just don’t know when you’re life might be turned upside down. Glad that they are okay.
Wow, a spookie sign!!
